PROJECT: PLAYAMAZE
YEAR: 2024
LOCATION: Black Rock Desert, Nevada
NATURE: Academic
UNIVERSITY: IAAC
COURSE: Complex Forming
GRADE: 9/10
Designed for Burning Man, this project proposes a temporary, climbable playscape that turns movement into a shared experience. A network of tensioned membranes is suspended between an inflatable structure, forming a soft, non-linear terrain with multiple levels for climbing, swinging, lounging, and exploring within a compact 25 × 25 m footprint. The structure encourages spontaneous interaction and ever-changing routes through the structure. Developed as a parametric Grasshopper system, endless variations of the design can be created with variations in height, spans, anchoring, tension and more.
The brief was to design a temporary structure consisting of inflatables and tensile nets using Kangaroo plugin in Grasshopper.
